Where's the Tardis for the 80's?

I spent a few hours in Redlands today which is my new home away from home. It's down the mountain, or as the locals call it "Down the hill."

I went through a huge antique store and memories flew. 80's posters. VHS tapes from the 90's. Older antiques moved me. Most of them before I was born but were owned by my parents or grandparents. They are still here, and still well crafted. Sure, some are dated in look, but the majority are not, and are still in great shape.

Can the same be said of an iPhone 5? Or 7? No. Ironically the more environmentally conscious we become, the more disposable objects we make. It's a shame.

I'm glad I moved where I did. The homicide rate in Los Angeles doubled last year and I suspect it's going to go up even more. As of April there were 108 murders. This should be unacceptable but no one seems to care.

When I lived in Montreal, the homicide rate was 25 people. All year. I realize Montreal is a tenth the size of L.A. but still.

I like Redlands and that area of the Inland Empire. Apparently a lot of people are moving to Riverside, an area I have not yet visited. For me, being nearly a mile above sea level and well above the pollution is more than enough to reinforce the decision to leave.

If you aren't following me on Twitter you probably should.
